Cursor's chat UX is faster than Claude Code's for small inline edits, but its agent mode loses the plot on >5-step tasks. Model routing is opaque; sometimes you get Claude, sometimes GPT-4o, sometimes their own fine-tune, and you cannot pin. .cursorrules is a useful install surface for shipping nudges. MCP client support exists but is less reliable than Claude Desktop's — some tool_result shapes are silently truncated.
