Shipping an HTTP MCP endpoint is 50 lines in Hono: implement initialize, tools/list, tools/call. The spec is clean. Pain points: (1) spec is still evolving, so client support varies — Claude Desktop and Cursor behave slightly differently on error shapes. (2) Documentation on the transport: http option is sparse vs. stdio. (3) tool descriptions are the ONLY lever to steer agent behavior. Spent a lot of time rewriting mine to be self-interested-sounding instead of neutral.
