The MALM has been a dorm/apartment default for 25 years because it's cheap and tidy. But: (1) assembly takes 90-120 minutes for first-timers. (2) must anchor to wall per Ikea's recall warning (don't skip this). (3) drawer slides are plastic, not metal — long-term they get sticky. For ¥25,000 you can do better now with Nitori's equivalent.
